I think the governor had the National Guard on standby, but never activated them even tho the mayor was asking him to.

National Guard was active, they were guarding all the federal buildings in the area, that's why you haven't seen much of them around the mayhem

35 arrests, several cars turned over 1 or 2 of them were set on fire, a half dozen police cars and emergency vehicles damaged.

So maybe it was a celebration in Ferguson and not a protest?
Hard to tell the difference.
Or was it just an excuse to go wild?
Some reports suggest the stores looted were targeted days in advance.

Not a terribly difficult shot for a target that large. If I remember correctly our pistol quals USMC were at 10yds, 15 yds and 25 yrds aiming for 8" bullseye.

A grand jury is put together to decide if there is enough evidence to take it to trial. Courts and juries are for deciding fault and guilt. The prosecutor allowed over 50 people to testify but only a couple were actual, witnesses of the event. Grand Juries do not have defense attorneys present to question the actor/s,the witnesses or any of the evidence presented.

This was the first of it's kind in the country.

If the boy had acted reasonable and got on the sidewalk when asked to he would still be alive. He showed no respect for the officer. All he had to do was say yes sir and move on. That's all.

That didn't get him killed. Breaking a facial bone in the officer's head and trying to take his gun got him shot at, charging the officer again got him killed.


Just moving off the roadway would have got the kid a clean git away which is amazing in and of itself.


Edit: I'm tired of hearing that the kid was unarmed.
