Well,, I woke up to moos coming from the wrong direction... half my herd had escaped and crossed the gully and creek to come back to the main side of the farm... after a bunch or wrangling around (they were in a very lush pasture and had no intention of going back to eating scrub), I finally convinced them I was going to make it hurt enough if they stayed that they'd better get back through that gate from whence they came... so I get them driven back over and with the other cows.. my electric fence had been trampled through and half my insulators had flown off, no a lick of power in the fence.. I go around looking for shorts or breaks.. nothing...

Then I go to the power pole where the fencer is plugged in..

THEY HAD UNPLUGGED IT.. bastards had managed to reach the power cord and chew on it and pulled it out

They won't go anywhere here.. everything that doesn't get irrigated is a desert.. no grass anywhere..

So after the cows had stampeded on the little road going down to the creek, I followed them a few minutes later, and there was a whitetail doe there with this bewildered look on her face about 40 feet away from me.. it was like "WTF was that all about?"

Cotton pickin' calve love to chew on electrical stuff. Used to park one of my old gasoline tractors outside and every time I got ready to use it I had to replace the plug wires.
