The taking of other people's homes has nothing to do with capitalism and everything to do with socialism. .
So, where would you draw the line with Communism?

Socialism = Communism

one and the same, does not matter what you call them

worthless, useless, "great on paper" system

if you do not have a system that rewards those who work for it and punishes those who do not, then you have a system predestined for failure.

you earn what you get and you get what you earn. nothing more, nothing less. THAT is the AMERICAN way.

I think in a lot of aspects, this point has already begun. Stop and think about all the Government has it's hands in.

It started a good while back as Springer Farms pointed out. It just inches in and inches in. They will take a little more of the rights and freedoms away from the people, a few will get upset about it, then it will die down, then it will repeat again.
Most people have very short memories. The politicians know and take advantage of this.

If you want to read a lengthy but very revealing novel, read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. She is dead now, but she was Russian by birth and a capitalist by choice. She saw the differences between Communism and Capitalism and knew the dangers of selling out your freedom.

I was recently talking to someone in England. They thought it was such a fine thing that so many of the people are turning in their guns to the police.
Go Figure!

Farm Bureau is lobbing against this big time. They need the help of everybody in the ag business to apply pressure to those in office. One of the toughest thing in the world to do is get a group of farmers/ranchers to agree on something. This is a real threat to anyone who owns farm/ranch land. Especially if you are on the east coast or close to a major city. Call your representative, if you dont know who to call contact your local farm bureau office and they can point you in the right direction.

I had read something about Governor Rick Perry's ambitious plan, but didn't know it was actually being put into place. When is he up for re-election? How is it being paid for?

Frankie,
The wheels are in motion. Go to the site icandoit linked to. It has all the information about the TTC and plenty of links to TxDOT sites. This legislative session has not been very cooperative in even stalling this thing long enough for public scrutiny.
Slick ricky is more ambitious than you think. This thing won't stop in Texas if it's fully implemented. He's already trying to negotiate agreements with Oklahoma and other bordering states to extend the corridor systems through them.

I know this, when election time comes around, I'm going to find out just who of our elected officals voted for this and write "letters to the editor" of thier respected papers and let the people know about this garbage. This is bull*%^(.

Dick

A "stand-alone" TTC bill was introduced twice and soundly defeated twice. The third time it was tacked onto another bill and it sneeked through. Just more political smoke and mirrors. Don't condemn all the legislators for the TTC. There are a few that are spearheading the fight against it that voted for the transportation bill it was attached to.

Our best chance is to expose those legislators that continue to support the TTC and by all means we MUST oust perry. The only way I see to defeat him is in the Republican primary. The Texas Dem's haven't fielded a viable candidate for governor in a long time.

Though it was a very close decision, I'm not a bit happy about it. It seems to me that big business, corporations, those with political power are getting things their way too many times lately. I can't imagine anyone wanting my place so far from town, but this decision bothers me a lot. Did you see where Governor Jeb Bush is wanting to investigate the Terri Schiavo case some more? That seems like blatent use of political position to me.

Yeah, but you didn't hear him say a thing when his wife tried to smuggle goods past customs a few years back. She said she forgot to claim the goods. Yeah, sure. He is the biggest joke we have down here. We call him pumpkin head. I wish you could have seen him on TV during the hurricanes last year. He was trying to act like he knew everything but when asked a question he would turn it over to someone else. Heard he sent FEMA down to Miami where they handed out $13 million and didn't even get hit by a hurricane. People around here where we got two direct hits couldn't even get a tarp out of them. I guess we don't vote his way around here.

The whole thing is that if they take the places, the shopping mall will pay way more in property tax on the same piece of ground.

You don't actually believe the companies are going to pay property taxes, do you? That more times than not is the first incentive to get companies to move into an area. The big revenue is coming from payroll taxes and jobs created.

The 5th Amendment was created in response to the King of England taking property without just compensation for his personal use. It seems to me that the Supreme Court forgot this history lesson and just voided the last section of that paragraph.

Yea Yea Yippy Hooray The Tables are Turned.
A California man, Logan Darrow Clements, angry over a U.S. Supreme Court decision expanding government power to take private property, says he will try to use the ruling to seize the New Hampshire home of Justice David Souter and convert it into a hotel to be named the Lost Liberty Hotel.

I completely agree. I already believe that we do not live a free society or even that America can be considered a free country any more. A Communist country with a cover possibly? The government constantly makes laws to give them more power and to take away the basic freedoms that every American is entitled to. Like owning property. Its to the point now where we are recoginizing that there is a problem and unless something is done what will the future be like for our kids and grandkids. Where do we draw the line?

...and maybe for once I wouldn't feel like I was voting for the lesser of two evils.

Looks like Congress is going to step in as they should.

I'm so sick and tired of the Supreme Court being an policy activist and legislator rather than fulfilling the duty they were assigned by our founding fathers of INTERPRETING the Constitution, not rewriting it.

You know things have gotten bad when the American public think that the UNELECTED Supreme Court is the final rule of law in the land.

And for fun, here is the article about the Lost Liberty Hotel - http://www.cdapress.com/articles/2005/0 ... news04.txt
Go get em Congress!
