We have elk here too. They have gotten from our place clear across the interstate.
Mostly cows now. Soon the bull elk will come in. They stick together this time of year.
They are exciting to watch and to hear bugle, but they can sure make a mess.

On December 18th, 1997, a large and successful restoration project began near the Knott-Perry County line to bring back elk to Eastern Kentucky.

Some rumors of elk carrying Bangs and other diseases. Sounds likely.

MN DNR is not fond of elk. Too many conflicts. We had one young bull show up here this fall. Usually, a nimrod drops them on opening weekend of the firearms deer season, but this one was lucky.

Some tribes are working with hunter associations to release elk on reservations (without MN DNR "help") in the north woods. i am sure many of those elk will leave the reservation to look for hay fields.
