I have seen discussion of selling quarters at dressed weight prices... I'll assume that they are talking front quarters and hind quarters...
When we sell "quarters" we are usually talking "half of halves"..
Whether dealing with "quarters" or half of halves", what do you prefer to use... dressed weight or salable retail weight pricing?
TIA
Chuck

We sell half of halves, hanging weight ~ which I believe is same as dressed (?).
Most buyers, if not all, asking for a quarter actually mean half of half.

What we do to sell a quarter is to clean and package each half then divide packages equally as possible. Most folks will want the hind quarter if you don't do it this way.

This is the way we do it too. This works good for us.

i also use mixed halves when selling qtrs.
i also still sell on live wt. no guessing that way.

ditto
If I sell a live fed steer then I sell live weight. If I sell a full half then I sell by hanging weight and give the customer the option of telling the butcher how they want it cut out.
