NBC is dumping Donald Trump.

In a press release on Monday, NBC said it was severing business ties with the real-estate mogul and GOP presidential candidate Trump because of statements in which he called Mexican immigrants rapists and drug runners.

"Due to recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its relationship with Mr. Trump," NBC said in the statement.

NBC said it was dropping Trump's Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants, and it indicated that Trump would no longer host "The Apprentice."

The decision comes after Trump doubled down on statements from his presidential announcement speech in which he described Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug runners.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best; they're not sending you," Trump said in his announcement speech. "They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Trump responded quickly at an appearance in Chicago, and he hinted that he was the one who ended the relationship.

"They didn't want me to run because they wanted me to do 'The Celebrity Apprentice,'" Trump told reporters.

"They were not happy," Trump said.

"I think as far as ending the relationship, I have to do that, because my view on immigration is much different than the people at NBC," Trump said.

Trump also fired back in a statement distributed by his office, in which he called NBC "weak" and questioning their support of anchor Brian Williams.

"If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court," Trump said in the statement provided by his office. "Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won't stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be."

NBC isn't the only network to sever ties with Trump.

Last week, Univision called Trump's comments "insulting" and announced that it would no longer carry the Miss USA pageant.

After Univision's announcement last week, Trump slammed the television company. The real-estate mogul banned network executives from his Miami golf course and said he would pursue a breach-of-contract lawsuit. He also publically declared that he rejected an apology from Univision executive Alberto Ciurana.

"Alberto Ciurana issued an apology to me late last night," Trump said. "Apology not accepted. I call for his resignation."

One of Trump's 2016 rivals appeared amused at the news.

When New York Times reporter Jason Horowitz told Jeb Bush about NBC's decision, the former Florida governor reportedly chuckled and took a shot at Trump's dubious self-reported fortune.

My only worry about him running the government is we already got enough folks running the country into bankruptcy.....How many companys did he fail with?????

How many did he succeed with? You can't fail if you don't try.maybe just maybe a man with the stones to speak the truth, to he// with what anyone thinks , is what we need.
I was a big fan of old Ross .

He's never filed for personal bankruptcy....and it's not uncommon for corporations to file for bankruptcy. Most often chapter 11 which is reorganization.

Donald Trump is the only Republican that stands a chance, and it's slim at best. The other Republican candidates are all the same, just with a slightly different story. We need someone that's not a career politician, and lawyer.

I know of an old guy, self made millionaire many times over. Started as a truck driver, built up a company. He saw some trucks on the road and he liked their operation, he flew half way across the country in his work clothes, stopped by their office and tried to meet with the owner. He was shuffled along, someone lower in charge finally met with him. He said he was there to talk about buying the company and was basically laughed at and kicked out of the office. He went home, worked out the deal and flew back and fired everyone who shuffled him out on the first visit. And its now one of the largest trucking outfits hauling what they haul up here.

Alas that is one of this countries major problems, no one accepts responibilty for their actions. If you fail in a company your ass should be on the line just like the poor mom and pop companies that may go out of business, because they will be paid pennies on the dollar if at all. One of the worst things Reagan ever did was not letting Continental go under. If you go bust you should stay bust until you pay ever penny back! Trust me you would see a much different country.

Granted, he could have worded that better, at least you know where he stands. No beating around the bush. Kind of funny they severed ties with him, yet they keep one of the biggest race baters alive, Al Sharpton, on the payroll . The media will start picking off the Republican candidates one at a time. He's their focus for the time being.

I actually think he would be the most ineffective person you could elect.
Neither side of the isle would do anything he wanted.
We need a mechanic right now and IMO he aint it. The wheel is off the wagon and the mule is in ditch.
Washington has became so dysfunctional along party lines with a socialist agenda of growing government.
IMO we need to throw all the bums out including the SCOTUS and start over.

You mean we should elect a REAL person
What a concept!

I find myself fist-pumping at some of the things Trump says...and then I ask "can he do that?" Build a wall and Mexico will pay for it! Bring all the jobs back from China. I think he's promising rainbows and unicorns.

Can't, real people that are highly successful but haven't gone to Harvard or any college for that matter are too dumb and don't understand how to get things done.

Plus, they're probably too rich and don't get the plight of the little man. That takes an IV league graduate that hasn't created a job or solved a real world problem in their life. Their wealth is derived from gifts of the people, book deals, speaking engagements and their magical investing to predict which businesses will be winners or losers, not some corrupt corporation they created to rob the little man. Its important to remeber that gifts to them from these corporations are not bribes, but private taxes...

(Having an honest, successful and hard working individual at the command would surely help, but it won't fix the system. The system is broken because the people are broken. The people are broken because they have no real compass. The founders as a whole had a compass. Which candidate do you think they would have elected? After fighting a war for freedom, I'm betting they could see the club behind every carrot.)

What we need is a guy who will hire a good mechanic pay him well and give him 10 minutes to fix the freakin wheel or get his a$$ down the road

You can't have it both ways either throw them all out of don't. Trump is the only candidate other than Ben Carson who isn't one of THEM.

He can't do anything unless congress funds him. I don't see that happening.

That is only because Congress doesn't have the nuts to cut off his funding.
You could bet they would come together against an outsider.
