WE joked how the dollar store became the dollar and a quarter store during inflation. Wife stopped there yesterday. She said it is now the dollar and a half store. Cost just keep going up.

I can't even eat McDonald's any more. In a pinch I stopped at one a month ago. Hadnt eaten there in years. I ate about half the burger and threw it out the window. It had so much sauces and junk and didn't taste any thing like a burger. We travel highway 50 through Nevada a couple of times a year, and have stopped at the McDonalds (reluctantly) in Ely because it's convenient. This last time we stopped and ordered two breakfast burrito meals and the total was over 23 bucks. We walked out too. There was a grocery store just down the street and we got 10 pieces of fried chicken for 8 bucks. Four pieces filled us up and we threw the rest away because we had no way to keep it cold.
I don't know about the fractions of a dollar Dave, here they are multiples of a dollar.WE joked how the dollar store became the dollar and a quarter store during inflation. Wife stopped there yesterday. She said it is now the dollar and a half store. Cost just keep going up.
I have seen something similar in a video documentary a while back. There was an article I read here awhile back where you have to watch those Dollar stores, Dollar Tree, and Dollar General. They all seem to price an item on the shelf, but then have a higher price at the registar.
5 below, when it opened by me, everything in the store was under $5. My wife went in there recently to pick up something little for Christmas, and apparently that's no longer the case. Can't really blame them from the last few years, but I suppose that's the problem with stores that name themselves after a dollar value. Inflation will make sure their stuff gets crappier, or they have to change their name to carry their same stuff.I don’t have much use for a Dollar Store, there are at least 6 Dollar Generals in this county, plus 2 Dollar Trees, and a Family Dollar. There’s also something called 5 Below that opened up not too long ago, not sure if it’s a dollar store type thing or not.
From what I can tell the name brand items in those dollar stores are smaller quantities and or higher prices and no telling where their brands are made so no thank you.
