Wondering what the difference in fuel consumption would be between a 2000 F-250 Superduty and a 2000 F-350 Superduty, both with 7.3 L Diesel. I know the one is gross vehicle weight of 8,800 lbs and the other at 11,200 lbs. Even a guess in MPG would be great. Would be driving without being loaded. Thanks.

A friend of mind just bought a 2002 f350 an it gets about 21 mpg not loaded or pulling a trailor.

Thats about what i get with my f250, both have 7.3 engine.

Unless Ford has changed the way they build trucks a F250 equipped exactly the same (transmision, gears, motor ect.) as a F350 will have almost identical unladen weights so there should be no difference in MPG. Maybe they have changed things it has been some time since I've compared the 2 before the only difference was a 4 inch axle block on a F350 instead of a 2 inch block on a F250.

The 7.3Ls will get probably 18-20mpg unless you got real heavy foot... then nothing will get good mileage.

I've got a 7.3 and lost 2 miles to the gallon when the low sulfur fuel came out. Went from 18 to 16.
