Dead heifer

Unfortunately I had a dead heifer yesterday. I am kind of puzzled. She was next to the water trough and was like she just fell over dead. She was bloated, slight smell, and flies all over her. She wasnt stiff. There was slight blood on her anus, nose, on ground by her head. Her eyes were cloudy gray. No sign of physical injury. Last time I saw her happy as can be Friday evening. So it's possible she had been dead at most 63 hours. Possible lightening as we have had thunderstorms every evening and ground is fairly damp or she ate something toxic. Calf was weak but strong enough to make capture a challenge. Guess the strangest part was the coloration of her eyes. Figured it was too late for a vet to inspect.

Had you vaccinated her?

These heifers were last vaccinated in Feb. Was wormed 2 weeks ago. Her calf is about 3 weeks old. Very strange.

Two things that kill them quick is blackleg and anthrax.

Any power close by the waterer or lightening in the area
