Crab grass hay

Crab grass hay baled in the fall . Would any one know what the protein would be ? Will be feeding it to fall calves . Thanks rj .

Really hard to say without a test. Crab grass can be great but can get rank pretty quick and the protein lowers fast.

What Kenny says it goes from great feed to bedding pretty quick. Cows aren’t crazy about it when it gets stemmy either.

Pull a sample and have it tested. Your local extension office might have a core pulling tool that you can run with a battery powered drill that they would let you barrow. That is what I do.
