Black Crow, I'm a big country music fan also. My husband doesn't like to too much, but he's a lot better than he used to be. Everybody loves Willie! 8) I like Toby and Terri, too. And I like Trace Adkins.

country's freakin awsome. right now im really startin to like taylor swift. but i pretty much like everybody. truthfully i dont like toby's newest song very much. JMO. of corse i like other stuff too, but not as much as country.

Yeah, I'm sure. Country music came from the minds, hearts, souls, and throats of Hank Williams, Sr., Faron Young, Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Kitty Wells, Mother Maybelle Carter and her daughters, Porter Wagoner, Roy Acuff, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Eddie Arnold, Red Foley, George Jones, Bill Monroe, and the like. Today's artists don't write and/or sing true country music. They're too far removed from rural roots to be able to perform music that originated in rural America. The class of such people as Jim Reeves and Ray Price has been replaced by "artists" singing "Can I Check You For Ticks". Yes, country music is a goner and has been for years.

You callin' me old? ;-) BTW, being Italian, do you like Dean Martin? My family used to watch Dino's TV show regularly. He had a voice so much superior to Sinatra's. Also, ever hear Dean sing "I Walk The Line"? Very different from Johnny's boom-chick-a-boom sound.

I'm more optomistic. Country is just evolving--despite it's fundamentalist roots. (Evolving-Fundamentalists: that's meant as a joke)
Brad Paisely is superb Country. Unless you consider West Virginia to be as sophisticated as Greenwich Village. "Check you for ticks" is a lame line that I would use. :)
Alan Jackson is selling records like crazy and is doesn't come much more pure.
George Strait. No comment necessary.
There are always commercial acts. Acts destined for Branson.
Like grade 2 heifers at consignment. But on the whole, I like what I'm hearing. And I'm an old fogey who might be tempted to say it peaked with Hank.
There is a bluegrass club meeting weekly around here. They pick for a while at the 4-H fairgrounds. Is that country? Oh, yes.
Yes, there is some awful stuff on commercial radio. Dig deeper.

Have you ever heard Mongomery Gentry their new song I'm a Lucky Man is awesome, and I really like Rodney Aitken, "we are your People" "Cleaning your Gun".and I also like Gary Allans new song "feeling like that" good rocking beat!

Also Jason Aldeen, rocks too!

I love country, although nothing is decent anymore. Brad Paisley isn't that bad, and there's a few good country artists over here, but nothing else is worth listening to anymore.

Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr, The Carter Family, Waylon Jennings, Roy Acuff are all favourites of mine, Johnny is and always will be the top for me. The Boom-Chicka-Boom sound is the main thing that drew me to it, because it's far from anything you hear these days. Most of the people my age like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, those types of guys, if they like any country at all. And to be honest I'd rather hear fingernails on a blackboard than listen to the "New" country.

I know Ryan the Ranch plays some good music, where I live we get 95.1, 100.3 KLIT, 93Q, and 97.1 . But My favorit is 100.3 on Sunday from 7:00pm til 12:00pm because all they play is Texas country like ( Pat Green, Cross Candian wagweed, Randy Rogders band, Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly, Kevin Fowler, Robert earl Keen) to name a few.

The Ranch is really the only Texas Country Only station that I can get. The rest (96.7 99.5 and 96.3) toss a random song in there sometimes, and two of the stations have sunday night 2-3 hr Texas Country programs...but thats it

I like The Ranch. Have you tried KZPS's new format? Kind of a mixture, but some good country in there, and stuff you don't hear every day. And no commercials! That's the best part.
