Connealy Black Granite

Help Support CattleToday:

We lost our only Black Granite cow last night. She fell through the ice in our fish pond along with 3 others cows. It was too deep to touch the ground. Got 2 out with ropes and the Tractor. One Recip Cow died right after pulling her out. Tried to save her one month early calf, by C Section. Calf wasn't alive.

Lifted the other semi-frozen, barely alive cow with the tractor forks and brought her into the barn. We put kerosene heaters next to her with blankets on her for hours. We also gave her Warm water with Electolytes and had the vet come and administer and IV.
About 8 hours after she was pulled out, she had enough energy to stand up. Hopefully at least one of the four heavy bred cows will survive.

That is a major bummer. Makes you sick. Guess I'm not the only one with that kind of luck.
