I have only 10 cows & 1 bull. Established herd for 15 years. Had 1 calf develop coccidiosis as a 4 month old-vetted & recovered. In the past 2 weeks I have had 3 calves born, 2 confirmed coccidiosis fecals, treated. Both died..latest calf born 3 days ago..today shows symptoms. in addition to the scours, there is severe muscle loss and uncoordination in hte hind legs...Vets are stumped...any help?

Coccidiosis?

I gotta' tell you I am fairly certain this is not the problem. V the Vet has confirmed my thoughts in another thread - at three days they are too young.

I am not veterinarian, but I figure it is something else.

Mineral prob? Tried selenium?

I give thumbs up to Bez.... he is likely right on this.... coccidia is a chronic condition, not an accute/fatal condition , just because they are finding coccidia in the manure does not mean that there is not something else, more insideous going on there.......consider........
white muscle disease
e-coli
toxins?
or any combination of things,....but i would bet that the coccidia is NOT the immediate culprit here.

Good luck :cboy:
