We are new to showing and clipping and have had some practice on cattle shown in the winter when the hair was much thicker and longer. Now, we have some cattle we have been working with for a show in a few weeks and the older cattle (18 months) have very little hair to work with. They have been getting daily rinsing and are under fans and a mister inside during the heat of the day but still shed out to a fine coat. Question is: Is the clipping much easier and lots less to do when the hair is so short that it just basically lays down?

Another question: on the area where the rump hair meets with the tail head, the hair makes a funny looking part or line. How do you get this hair to all go forward instead of some going up to the tail head and creating a part? Does it have to be clipped? Training the hair hasn't done much.

Thanks in advance for the help. I hope someone out there relates and can share their experiences!!!
