Chronic bloater

Last year I had my first chronic bloater. Question. Is the cow who had this calf more apt to have chronic bloating calves in the future or is this a freak thing.

Got rid of a real nice weaned bull this year who was a chronic - momma (10 year old) had a perfect string of real nice calves before that.

When I was a kid we had a neighbor who owned a outstanding looking Herf bull but he bloated so much they finally installed a trocar in his side. We would always go by there and try to see him out in the pasture with a big green stripe of bloat running down his side.
