them hawks are simple to get rid of....just put a steel trap on top of a fence post overlooking the coop.

I raise quail in a flight pen and lose a fair number to hawks and owls, with owls being the more efficient killers. You can eliminate some of these predators with steel traps as J Baxter said but you can not eleminate the problem in this manner. There will be other hawks and owls to take the place of the trapped ones. They're like fire ants.
