Cherry tree?

just had a tree come down, I don't think it's a cherry, but not sure? I don't want to take any chances with the cattle either, do I fastened them up away from it.

Hackberry im pretty sure.
But if concerned take a 1 gallon sprayer of diesel and spray anything cows can reach. They wont eat it plus it will turn it brown very quickly

The main bark on trees and limbs should look like it has warts on it.

Yep, hackberry or diseased ironwood.
(I see I'm not the only one that sometimes walks on the back of my shoes.....)

It's hackberry. Our cows LOVE them, and eat the leaves all the time.

Hackberry When I cut one in August for winter firewood, the cattle gather around drooling for the leaves. A common name is sugar berry as well. Squirrels love the small berries in late summer. The tree must have a high sugar content.

The first cow I ever lost was to cherry leaves from a limb knocked down in a summer thunderstorm. I have been leery of them ever since.
