Causes For Abortions

I'm doing a little research and haven't been able to find a good source for causes for abortions (and premature births) in cattle for specifically the periods of:

• 1. First Trimester
  2. Second Trimester
  3. Third Trimester

Obviously we can rule out accidents & mechanical injury and such from all three categories above, as well as someone accidentally or on purpose injecting some drug substance in them. We all know that Brucellosis can cause abortions, for example.

Any inputs for causes for each of the above 3 categories would be appreciated!

this wouls be second and third trimester mostly but...
moldy hay
last trimester
open cow. We have found that if there is an open cow in the bunch especially the last tri, they fight or jump each other. we have found that about 24 hours later premie calf, dead calf that was to young, or a live backwards calf

Moldy feed will do it.

BVD will cause abortions in the first 120 days of pregnancy. It can also cause PI calves if the fetus is infected in the 110-120 day range. It may also cause abortions after 120 days, but that is fairly uncommon.
