I finally got it done after 3 weeks of work by myself and about $9000 of materials. Also have already wormed and taged bout 90 cows without as much as a hiccup. I used all treated post, boards, 7 super heavy duty gates(post concreted) and a Priefert squeeze chute. With the circle gates outside and inside I can handle the cattle by myself. Here are some pictures of the outside lot and the in the barn:

Looks good. You'll like the Priefert. Nice that you have it covered out of the weather too.

What's the pallet on the gate for? Stumped???

Seems like I can't find time to get anything done. I don't know how I ever worked a job, but I sure don't miss the job I did have.

When I bring the gate around to squeeze the cattle to go up the chute into the head gate at the back a couple smaller cows tried to turn around on me. The pallet takes away turning room and after I started using my hotstick, if needed, I had no more problems getting them to go in anyway.

It's going to get worse too JL. Bigger projects are fairly easily done as you can stick with them till finished, but The days just run together, then weeks and months.
That sounds like a good working facility you built--it's always difficult to get a picture of the whole thing, when it's something that big. Good idea for raising the height of the gates--they'll always try to test the lowest points first.

There's and always a ton of little things you see that prompt a "I need to change/fix/build that" thought as you walk or drive past something.....and there isn't no such thing as "weekends off" once you retire (except Sunday--ox has to be in the ditch for me to work Sunday)
Right now, I know I need to do some water proofing on some vents on the house, put an extra strand of wire on a fence where it crosses a creek so the calves can't get under, put a little barrier up around a vertical culvert to keep 'em from walking off in it and drowning, fence off my dock areas at the pond, rebuild the carb on my welder, finish tearing down an old side shed off the big barn, and run a crapload of buried water lines. It just never seems to end.

I really envy you for being able to work cattle under a roof.

Both would be good, but myself I like the wire panel on also, as they should last as long as I need them. I have another smaller lot with the boards and corral panels and I have never had one to go through it.
