When taking calves to auction do you try to have them in good flesh and avoid as much shrink as possible...or have them in good condition but not carrying as much flesh when they hit the sale ring?

I guess I like to sell pounds.

You want to have them in good shape but not fleshy. A fat, bloomy calf may look good to the owner, but to a calf buyer he looks like a wreck waiting to happen. That calf has to lose the milk fat look before it can move forward.
