I would like to know if any CT members have used this bull, or will be using him.

His Youtube video:

His AAA info:

He is featured as the lot 1 bull on the Vermilion website.

I like what I see, and would use him if I can get the semen.

Did you join the low birthweight bandwagon? Only kidding. I am getting Broken Bow calves right now. I haven’t seen Bomber or his calves. Is semen hard to get?

Interesting that a 1-29-16 born $190,000 "super star bull" purchased by one of the biggest Angus outfits in the country and sans being available in the interim to AI studs is currently slotted as Vermillion's number one lot in their upcoming sale. PT Barnum was spot on.

So you are saying he is all smoke and mirrors and that their cattle business is suffering, so therefore they have resorted to trying to flip bulls for a few shekels?

Some of you guys must wear belts AND suspenders. Live a little! Order 20 straws and stick a few heifers and see what happens. What’s the worst that goes wrong? You get some top notch calves?

I think this bull could have a solid future ahead of him, and could bring some good things to the table. Just my opinion.

Branded,
What is the worst thing that can happen.. wow, remember CA Future Direction.. That was pretty bad, if you had any calves. Not saying bomber has a defect, just saying the worst thing that can happen is pretty bad sometimes.

What do you mean by "defect"? Not being a smart azz just trying to understand.

Genetic carrier of some recessive.

I know there is a LOT that can happen. It can happen with many top bulls. I hear a lot of people on here talk about using untested, bulls. Take nearly any sale in the country and tell me how many bulls had a complete genetic bundle test performed? Maybe a few but definitely not the entire group in most cases. So with that said it’s all a risk some way or the other.

I maintain that this bull is legit, from what I can see.

But here is the worst that could happen. If he were a carrier, which I highly doubt he is, I would steer all the sons, recoup my semen cost and make a handsome profit, as for the heifers, I would sell them as commercial with no papers with a full disclaimer to the buyer. They would join the untold amounts of commercial cattle that probably have some defect of some kind. Either way, I would be completely honest with the buyer and show them the DNA test.

That is way more than most people would do. I see bulls that are carriers being marketed in sales here in Kentucky. I also see Epic sons for sale.

I personally would not sell a person a bull that is a carrier.

Lets not go down a rabbit hole, about defects.. Branded but you are showing your inexperience about what happened with AM and then with NH.. lots of breeders were line breeding to Precision.. so the worst that can happen is calves that are DOA.. dead calves dont grow, and darn sure dont make good steers..

You won't sell a carrier bull but gladly to sell carrier females?

9 out of 10 people, even if it was fully explained to them in excruciating detail would not care if an animal was a carrier.

I spoke with a guy today that bought his herd bull for $875. Obviously not from me! Very nice fellow, well-intentioned, he would not have cared even in the slightest about recessives.

We don't have any carriers in our entire herd, so what I'm speaking of is a hypothetical, but if for some reason a carrier surfaced at some point and was a female, I would sell her without papers with a full disclaimer. I would let the buyer decide what they wanted to do, but they would have all the information they needed to make the decision.

Like I said however, I don't have any carriers, so that really isn't an issue for me.

Let me say this, all of the bulls we have for sale are genetic bundle tested, Angus GS as well. No carriers of anything. I also have a BSE on each one before they leave, which is a given.

Do you think buyers really care? I point out all of this to them and it's "uh, ok....then an awkward silence"

I want them to care, but they just don't.

What matters to 90% of the buyers is price, nothing else. It's usually the first thing that is asked about on the call.

Bomber is not in the upcoming sale. I repeat he is not for sale.

My original herd got swept up in the whole Precision deal. Ended up sending half my herd to slaughter, didn't even do the testing. My Dad ended up buying a herd bull, four years after the debacle that had Precision in him, I was po'ed with my old man, when the old man died, so did his bull (sent him to slaughter). Obviously this is really far off the topic of Casino Bomber. I don't like his look, seems a bit light in the rudder.

Whose people you spoke of? I never met anyone who didn't care about their cattle being carriers, other than club calf folks. Most times, they usually sent the carrier cows straight to slaughter, not the sale barn.

I saw a DDC carrier, son of International, in a 2019 sales brochure for an operation in KY.

Also got a brochure In the mail the other day with Epic sons as the lead bulls.

I won’t mention their names, but it was a bigger one.

My gosh this wasnt what about your bulls, it isnt about you selling bulls on this site. This was about what happens when you line breed to Precision. Quit making it about you, it is about you showing your knowledge of what happens when you have a lethal genetic defect problem.. SMH

I’m well aware of the issues, that’s why I test everything that hits the ground Angus GS and genetic bundle.

I’m not taking it lightly.

The other day I a question got asked on a Facebook group I’m in about how folks liked their Epic calves. I thought I must be in some parallel universe. Epic calves should be in a feed lot.....why in the heck would a seed stock provider want progeny from genetics you can’t even prove?

Someone care to post a link about these “carriers” y’all are talking about. Not an angus guy and I have no clue what y’all are always talking about.
