How soon do calves come into heat? In other words, when should I separate them from my bull. They are about 6 months old and fixing to be weaned from moms.
Depending on the breed they could come at any time now, or may have already been in.

I'd keep weaned heifers separate from weaned bulls. Avoid any accidental, too young breedings. Wouldn't breed anything (male or female) before about 14 months old.

I would keep them seperate just like Bill said. I once heard a man say "ah them little bulls won't breed them cows." He was wrong. I have also seen 700 lbs heifers at sale barns that were 8 months bred. The highest price I heard for one was 22 cents a pound.
