Calves Hoof

Went to feed the cows tonight and I noticed one of my calves limping. His left rear hoof right below the hairline was cut in the shape of a horseshoe. Is this something I can treat myself, and if so what do I need to do? Thanks everyone for your help, Phil

put some coppertox or screw worm spray on it if you can. it will probably heal on its own if flies don't get in it
