I learned how to weigh a calf from a charolais breeder in South Dakota. Cut a peice of square steel 1" tubing about 4'6" long and another 3/4" tubing 4' 6" long slide the smaller tubing into the larger tubing.Put a spring loaded pin in the tubing. when the tubing is extended out it is about 8' long. hook a 200* scale on one end of the tubing. now make a belt 2' long and 16" wide that will wrap around the calves belly, hook belt to scales, us the long pole as a tri pod and lift the scale and the calf up and you have weighted the calf
