We have a new calf (approx. 200 lbs) that we bought with cow at the stock barn on 12/14. Calf started bloating about 5 days ago. We had a vet out yesterday that administered magnaluk, therabloat & tubed to remove gas. Today, the calf is bloated again, and seems to be distressing (grinding teeth). any ideas? Thanks

Any chance its ability to regurgitate has been hampered? Is it "burping" or chewing its cud at all? There is a term for this but it's been too long ago, that I cannot remember what its called. I saw this once, back in the late 70's when I was in school, we had to tube the calf daily to relieve the gas build-up.

Haven't seen it burp. We just got through tubing in again with milk of magnesia & mineral oil. It is bloated on both sides. Majorly distressed.

Ship it! Chronic bloaters are always a worry that they'll bloat and croak when you can't do anything.
