We have two 7 month old bull calves we will be taking to the auction. We are new to this thing they call the cattle business and due to my wife's firmly stated moral and ethical objections and my inability to find an appropriate time to challenge those objections I did not turn them into steers.

My question is how much will we get docked at the sale for not castrating them?

We are located in central texas if that is relevant.

As a sidenote one of these boys recently chased my wife to the top of a picnic table. Ever since "the incident", as we call it, her objections to castrating male calves have been withdrawn and I do not anticipate this problem again.

probably not too much. you may have more poundage on a bull than you would the steer to make up for any dock for not being castrated.

Ditto to what Beefy said. At least in my part of the woods. ;-)

Here in East Texas, bull calves over 500 lbs will bring $5 to $7 per cwt. less in the fall. Spring time is less. The reason is more sickness and stress.
