Hi
I have a group of 6 heifers that are about 18-22 months old and weigh in the 800-900 pound average range. Two heifers are pure Brahman (commercial) and the others are half to 3/4 Brahman. These heifers were put with a proven Angus bull in November. Had them all palpated today and none is cycling yet, all are open. Its not the bull. He has calves dropping right now and is already breeding the cows back. But this group of heifers have not cycled yet. All of the heifers are unrelated to each other.

What is your experience with the age for getting Brahman and Brahman cross heifers bred? Does warmer weather get things started? Vet felt that two of the heifers were getting close and they got cystorelin shots. All did have a complete set of internal organs, so no freemartins in the bunch.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Brahmans take a little long to mature. They could be very light bred if the bull is with them. Don't give up on them yet.
