Brahman Bull sells for $300,000

Stop press just heard that a grey Brahman bull by JDH Baxter Manso has sold for $300,000 at the annual Tartrus sale. He was 20 months of age. The previous top Brahman was $145,000 earlier this year for a full South African bull.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that would have to be the highest price ever in Australia.

Yes it would be the highest price ever paid. The highest female price I believe is $160,000 for a Baldrudgery Poll Hereford heifer some years back now.

10 minutes before the $300,000 sale a record was set at $155,000 for a grey bull. Here's the sale run down.
179 Bulls averaged $11,128
38 females averaged $11,620 top $37,500
sale gross $2.43 million

11 heifers averaged $12,818 top $22,000 (JDH Woodman)
1 semen package $27,000 ($2,700 a straw)
1 embryo $24,000

I saw these results in QCL. And I was amazed at the price of the embryo, personally I wouldnt pay that much, but PBF genetics are very good.

I still can't get over the $300,000 though

lol, I took in some photos to be developed the other day, and a photo of one of my heifers was sitting on top. The lady at the shop asked me something about when I was gonna eat it... I just looked back in shock and said no, that would be a very expensive piece of steak... $3000 heifer
Can't imagine eating a $300,000 bull in a hurry!
