Bovamine a must?

Is the use of Bovamine just for feed lots? I was reading the rules for Laras Lean Beef which state as follows:

Finishing
1. All cattle must be fed a minimum of 500 IU of Vitamin E per head per day for at least 100 days before slaughter.
2. All cattle must be fed Bovamine, 1 dose per day (1 gram) per head for at least 100 days before slaughter.

Bovamine supposedly lessens the chance of E:Coli.

It's a probiotic.
