Blood Quantum

With the other thread about Who is not allowed. Being it is 2013 and all of the races have been diluted what is the min quantum to be considered black, white, red, brown or yellow. I have done extensive background on my tree and while I don't have all of the colors represented I do have 3 that I can trace back.

I'm as confused as a termite in a yoyo. And quite frankly don't know if I should be offended or not.

For me, personally, the color of a person's skin or what country the person comes from does not determine whether I will like that person or not. It is the person's character and personality that mean more to me.

So, M5farm, given what you have described above, I bet you are one of those fortunate folks who may not burn to a crisp if out in the sun without long sleeves.

If you don't know if you should be offended, then you might as well be offended. I think that's what most do, because I've never heard anyone give a reasonable logical explanation for being offended in regards to what you bring up. I guess taking offense is what one does who doesn't know what else to do?

I don't burn in the sun and I'm not identified as a white person by strangers (usually south American or Filipino is their guess). My family tree has been traced a good way back - there's no non-white blood in there.

Mine is all Scott-Irish as well a few Kelts thrown in to show our ass once in a while, guess our families settled different continents together.

Here's another story. Many, many moons ago I was part of a group following a young woman around the institution known as Reading University (in the south of England) while she told us how wonderful life was on campus and what it meant when the security guards threatened someone with 'I know where you live'. While explaining what a diverse mix of cultures attended the uni she looked directly at me and said "even you will find someone who speaks your language here."
Taken aback, I replied: "What language do you think that is?"
I can't even claim a working knowledge of Gaelic.

So I have another question on colorful ancestors. Since I traced back to some injuns and those injuns owned black slaves and then those injuns had offspring with the slaves. Am I supposed to be offended by because my black ancestors in Africa sold blacks to I assume whitemen which in turn sold to the injuns.

I do tan very well and I have alot of rhythm.

Mom used to tan really well and quite dark, that was the Greek genes. She developed Vitiligo and now her skin is almost transluscent. The rest of my mixed up heritage on Mom's side (in addition to Greek) is English, Irish and Scottish. On Dad's side it's German and English.

Interesting combo for sure.

My ancestors were Scots (migrated in 1854 from small dairy farm in Ayrshire as there were to many sons and not enough land), Irish (potato famine drove them out) and English (including a convict-back 4 generations- which my father found devastating).Sure glad they moved to Oz as we have a better life here than would have had in GB, seeing as how we didn't own big estates in 'the old country'.
Just watching Edinburgh Tattoo on TV. Love the pipe bands and tartans. Saw it live in 1985, a great spectacle. When we were in Scotland , the locals thought my husband was Canadian (from his accent) but when I spoke they knew we were aussies. Apparently my accent almost required an interpreter......well, not quite, but had to repeat a few words and explain some others.
