Biggest cow ever!?

I have one pretty much just as big, she is 1/2 holstein and 1/2 hereford. We don't have a weight tape big enough for her, and she is only 5! I call her "Moose" :) she is currently bred to simmental... So unless it is the most beautiful heifer calf I have ever seen, I will NOT be keeping it. I can't imagine the frame getting any bigger on my Moose, she is just a few inches shorter than me, and I'm almost 6 ft with my boots on!

You are fortunate that she breeds back for you. Usually when the get so big they won't stick. :(
 
She is not a double muscled, just super fat! I had a cow that had similar condition to yours. She do have some calves then never had a calf for three years but she keeps gaining more pounds. I'm glad that I sold her at the sale barn and got fat paycheck.

I don't know how much is due to the influence of the hormones used to superovulate 'em, and how much is just due to the fact that they're on a high plane of nutrition - and not taxed by producing and feeding their own calf. Probably mostly the latter.

Lucky_P, the Rocking P folks showed me their donor cow setup. Every one of their Simangus donor cows goes in the 2000 pound range. I ask Chan Phillips about their size as it seems to be contrary to their breeding program and his response was the same as yours.

Green Eyes: TN TUX, HughesFamilyFarm and I have a plan to visit the Hoff Angus farm near Paris, KY this spring/summer. I am told that the normal size of the cows is 2200 pounds. The bulls go well above that.

Before she was heavily conditioned?

I kinda doubt that she would have BB.
It's not "popular enough"
And if she was... She'd probably be over half.
She might just be a super easy keeper.

She was preg checked early on, BRED.
Not everyone that has cattle is in the "cattle business." (As most of you are in it for profit.) My cattle are treated as my horses. If they have been shown, and are pets, they get buried. Not hauled to a sale. Please don't chastise me for treating my cattle differently than you believe I should. I have hauled many cattle to the sale barn. But it is not for all of them.

I just don't think that it is right, when someone is looking for answers, that the subject always gets turned around to the "sale barn". If I wanted to sell her, I would have. That's not what I was asking...... :)
 
When I gets me my check I'm catching that greyhound to Cali so you and me can rassle some cows and you learn me to ride horses and lasso :D

I sold a big fat cow like that. Weighed 1800, got 35 cents/lb on the same day other non-fat cows were going for 70 cent/lb. Cow buyers don't like paying for fat.

You are right ga. Sometimes not worth it. I was more interested in finding out why she was in liver failure, than the money to be made at the sale barn. Just good animal husbandry to get some answers.
 
But... On the flip side...
Some of our BB cross culls have been massive and caught a good price.
Buyers have been at this a long time, they can tell what's meat and what's padding.

Brother had a cow that was 2005 live weight that fetched a premium price.
She was BIG hams, trim belly.
