Best 22 ever?

Use a 10/22 more often than any other, but the sentimental favorite is a Remington model 12. Pump rifle with the octagon barrel, belonged to my Grandpa.
 
Back when I shot Deer with a nuisance and predation permit, in Ga. and Al. I started with a 10-22 and it worked real well. Use to clean it with starting fluid, and oil it with W-D 40. Never any problems with the gun, but you were not allowed to remove the deer from the fields. Somethings make no sense and never will.

I cant ever remember shooting a deer that I or someone else didn't eat.

I did once. Shot at the edge of a lava bed and it ducked around an upcropping. We spent 3 days looking for it and never even saw a buzzard. The next year one of the cowboys said they had found the deer. It had run around the outcropping and fallen into a 20 plus foot deep cravasse in the lava. They found it only by the smell and the coyotes hanging around that couldn;t get to it.
 
We are allowed 4 deer in this county and I usally only shoot one because that's all I can eat.The little woman don't care for it.
Sometimes about every other year I shoot an extra and have it processed and give it to an elderly couple in town.They love deer meat but the man has only one leg and it's hard for him to hunt,especailly at 78 yr old. One deer usally lasts them 2 yr.
Couple years ago he gave me one of his matching pair of S&W Model 29 44 mag with a 6in barrel.Insisted that I take it.Sure puts the pressure on the wrist when you fire it. :)

Well my Pop was hired by the state of Fl. to kill all the deer he could, got paid by the tail. The ranchers thought the deer were giving the cattle the Blue Tongue Virus. But we all know that was a bunch of Bull now. In some places in the south its hard for the farmer to grow any peanuts, soybeans, or any kind of peas. Can't hardly grow a garden because of the DEER. Had to quit planting sunflowers for the dove because of the DEER. I still love to hunt whitetails, but they are nothing but a varmint some of the time. At least in Ga. we can kill 12 per year per person, and get tags to harvest more if need be. Now we get to donate the deer to the Hunters for the Hungry so thats a good thing for sure.
 
I have 22 bolt action that I got as a kid for Christmas and the name stamped on the barrel is sears roebuck. that christmas was at least 50 years ago.

I have no idea who actually made it. It is the only 22 rifle I have ever needed. shoots sweet.

looked at the list and it clicked in my head that someone told me somewhere along the line that it was a Marlin. I looked up Marlin 80 and Mariln 81 and while the gun is at home and I am at work so i can not see the model number..... I would say mine is a Marlin 80.
