Background check

I was flagged on a shotgun purchase back last spring because I had told the guy my address was xxxx Dr. They asked for an "official document" to verify my address and I gave them my truck registration. The revenue office had put xxxx ST. As my address so the background check rejected me.
I got the registration out of my wife's truck the next day and went back, it said xxxx Dr. I didn't stick around and wait this time. They called me after 6 hours and said that it finally went through to come pick the gun up.

I get a delay about every other gun I buy. Sometimes there is no delay. I also have a CCW. The first time I got delayed the FFL guy said they had 3 days to call him back and would either tell him to deny or proceed with the sale.

He said if they don’t call back at all then he is legally allowed to proceed after 3 days. He also said that they never call him back on delays. Of course they didn’t call back and I got my gun. There is no rhyme or reason it seems.

It’s rather annoying they just waste people’s time with not calling back. Some places have policies that do not allow them to proceed unless they are called back and told to proceed regardless of the 3 day period.

Florida Gun Exchange was great for this reason. 10min tops. Never longer.

Haven't bought a firearm in years. Can't compare my experience in TN yet.

Getting delayed was what finally prompted me to get the ltc. You don't have to have it in Texas. But with it there is no background check. You still have to do the transfer of course but they are not required to call it in. Dosnt help a bit suppressor or sbr. Anything with a tax stamp is still a nightmare. Maybe now with a different crew in charge they'll get that fixed.

If they would transfer all this legalize energy onto the criminals they arrest with stolen guns it would save time and tax payer dollars.

I have the equivalent to that in Ohio but in my case I still get randomly delayed. It is crazy because the ccw process is actually more in depth. We did pass a law a few years back where a ccw can essentially be substituted for the background check but very few places actually practice it and just do the background check.
