Hope they are all not heifers, or you'll get a strange lump on your arm.Oh well all the really good AI'rs and vets that preg check all have that funny muscle on their arms.Almost finished Dun hang in there.

Got another one just coming in so that makes 4 for the morning. Gonna have a friend of mine come over in the am to give me a hand

I got a dozen heifers to do next week. I pick up some sexed semen later this week that I'm gonna try for the first time. I noticed that you are going to have some help tomorrow. I deliberate each time whether I get help or not. They are a lot calmer when it's just me but it's always more awkward by myself.

The guy that's coming over is one of the best catle sorter/movers I've seen. When a cow balks I have no idea what he does but the next thing you know the cow is slowly walking p the alley. When we work the cows and calves in the spring and fall he takes care of the sorting. Never any noise, the darn things just kind of sort out the way he wants them to. Oh yah, no sticks whips or anything, just his arms and body.

I think cattle are a lot like kids. they know what they can get away with, with their parents. Mine used to just walk around me when going to the squeeze. They never got excited, just pushed me out of the way. If I bring in help, I keep them outside the pens. All they need to do is stay behind them.

I guess the best think I have done is give them a treat about one time a month and allow them to exit the pens only by the squeeze.

As far as your arm goes, maybe there is a plus side of no breeding season.

If I AI alot the thumb on my left hand and the connective tissue between the thumb and index finger gets sore and swollen. Luckily my breeding season isn't that long and I only AI the reg herd.

Might sound stupid but it works

I feed my cows in the head chute. Every time they go thru the chute. Learned this when synching some donor cows a few years back. third day of shots and they were standing at the gate waiting for me.
We sync and breed 40 to 50 head every year.
I do it by myself.
most synchrony methods mean 4 trips thru the chute.
I rigged up a little tub that I can easily slide in front of the cows and it is high enough that they can eat from it. give each cow about a cup full of grain when they are in the chute.
they get to where they like the chute. Last fall had one group of ten head to AI and 7 of the ten were standing in the alley waiting for me to open the gate into the head chute on breeding day.
Did it when the vet was here this spring and he was amazed at how well the cows went thru the chute. He thought it would bee too much time and work til I showed him but he liked it when we were done. 8)
