Are South Devons any good or am I crazy for loving them?

Just a poll to see if I'm crazy?

If the rest of us aren't crazy for spending the time, money and effort on our chosen breed, why would you consider yourself crazy? I vote, no, you're not crazy.

My next door neighbour and Horned Hereford breeder, switched to using a South Devon bull about 10 years ago, to rid himself of the whiteface cattle who continuely got docked at our local yards as 500 lbs calves. His herd is about half red and half whiteface now. At one time, I was interested in adding South Devons to my program too. Only think I don't care for in them is the excessive milk production. Raise terrific calves though.

I agree. If they make You happy, then that's all that matters.

I have Reg. So. Devons and like them for the most part. Also have Red Angus and they make a great cross on Red Angus. Keep up the great breed promotion!
