alfalfa didn't sprout??

I plated a 10 acre field into alfalfa the 2ND. week of aug.(central Indiana area). We have had a terrible drought and the seed has not sprouted at all. Am I screwed, or will the seed be o.k. until spring rains hit us? The only other option I have now is the frost seed some clover in it this feb.

If it doesn;t sprout it may still be viable in the spring but I would frost seed clover anyway, just in case
