air compressor switch

Are air compressor pressure switches pretty much universal on all units? I have an older horizontal unit of unknown brand that needs a new switch I guess as it won't cut the machine off. Its a old large two stage machine that somebody painted in the past.

yes , You just have to know what PSI you want it to cut out and on . They are not cheap . Last one I bought was about 80 bucks .

Pretty much, but before you give up on the switch itself, unplug it and drag some sandpaper through the contacts a few times, if you haven't already

And make dang sure the pressure relief valve is working perfectly before you try to fix the improperly working switch. Air pressure can be powerful.

Thanks for the tips. I know the pressure relief valve is working because it scared the jeebies out of me when it opened the first time I used this old machine. I'm not sure how long it had set up. The air filters were full of dirt dobbers and trash. The oil came out like sludge. The tank had about two gallons of water in it plus the drain cock was broken.
Other than that it seems to be solid. It was probably a nice expensive machine at one time.
