thank you for your kind replies. its good to know i m on the right track. i only have a small herd of which most i inherited when my father passed away. the cow in pic 2 is aultoun progress 44th and is the first cow i purchased with heifer calf at foot.

I like that green color of your grass even better haven't seen any grass that color around here in a couple of months

to be honest its been like that here. we had some rain recently which has started things going but the grass growth has been poor. even feed them some round bail silage to keep them going in mid august. dont usually start that untill oct.

they should now be back in calf to my new bull. he will be 24 months old in a week.

what do most people wean there calves on weight or age. is there a maximum/minimum time to keep them on the cow. once a cow is back in calf how much time does she need to build herself up for giving birth.
