About to wind it up...

Like BusterBrown, I have dial-up so the new format seems to load a little slower than the old one, but not so much that it makes a huge difference. Other than that, I think the new system is just fine and in many ways better than the old. Thanks.

Thanks for all you work. This is a great site!

One other suggestion / questions. Is there anyway to get a preview of the first post in a thread before you click on it to open it? Some sites when you put your mouse over it a little window pops up and you can see what the post is about. It lets you click the ones you are interested in and skip the one's you arent.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Mouseover what?

Mouseover is what I was suggesting. When you are looking at the various threads and put you mouse over it, a little window with the first few lines of the initial post pops up. It kind of gives you a preview of the thread longer than the subject line. Lets you tell if the author is serious, or making a joke etc.

If you would like an example, try going to http://www.homesteadingtoday.com

Go to one of their forums. Then slide your mouse over one of the threads and leave it there for a second. You'll able to see part of the first thread without having to click on it to open it. Thats what we mean.

Sometimes I have a problem with my back button. It says the page has expired. That's irritating and I don't know if that has to do with the new format but it never happened before. :???:

Question: My home and school computers both have Windows XP. When I read a topic at home, the icon changes from yellow to white as soon as it's read - love that! My computer at school doesn't change it without refreshing the page. I'm guessing it's a setting somewhere. Any ideas as to how I can get my school computer to mark them as they are read?

At least that would be cosistant. The box I use 99% of the time is running 98, sometimes it changes to white, sometimes it doesn;t.

Should be able to fix it by emptying cache or dumping temp internet files, but that hasn't worked for me on just the beginners board. :!: :?: :???:

I am also having the slight irritation of the page being just an inch or so too wide. Doesn't affect much but sometimes can't click the "next page" button without sliding everything over. Pretty sure this is on my end as well but can't seem to find the fix.

If you use the navigation links at the top and bottom of the page it should work. If you use your browsers back button you will have to refresh. But then again there are so many different kinds of computers using so many different operating systems with different browsers, nothing is for certain.

Are any of you using WebTV? I've had one report that it doesn't work at all on there.

I have Webtv and what I have now seems old fashion. Have to do so much clicking to get where I want to go. What I had was more like what everybody else has now, according to their complaints. Only I had avatars on left.
