Good end to '05 -
Around 6:30am last Thursday (December 29th) we noticed a bull new calf in the pasture. I had put Mamma (a 1st time hefier) up in the corral the day before because I knew it was close. Hoping she would use the dry area near the hay to have the calf, but as usual she had the calf in the mud. Mamma and little bull were fine, but muddy. Temps soared to mid 50s and they dried out.

I checked on another Mamma today around 2pm because it was getting close. Nothing going on. I checked on her again at 4:45pm and there was the hefier calf stand and nursing. I really like the cows after they have had a couple of calves, they can sneeze and almost pop the calves out.

I will try to post picturs in a day or two.

It would be hard to beat that, congratulations! I would love to see pictures of your new babies. What kind of cattle do you raise?
