our son steer did really well at the 4H round up this past weekend.
he got reserve heavy weight steer and Reserve Grand Champion Steer.
he wieghed 1288. We were impressed. there were three down there that we didnt think we could beat.
the one steer that did beat us, was from our farm as well. (sold as a calf last fall) we knew we probably wouldnt beable to beat that one.
he did ok in showman ship and ok in fitting. he had a hard time seeing the judge the steer is a tad too tall for him but. luckifully the judge realized this and was kind enought to go around and tell caleb where he was placed. Caleb was trying to look around the steer but everytime caleb took a step forward so did the steer. we will watch that in years to come. we know most judges would of skipped over him to the next kid.
we are happy. we just hope it carries thru to fair. Where our real show is and then the sale, the higher you place the higher on the sale list.
he had fun and enjoyed himself, ill try to post pictures later.

Congrats on the success.

On the steer moving everytime your son did, try to teach your son to move his body without putting any pressure on the halter (I know it's easier said than done especially for a young showman).
