4 Wheeler Rope Wick

Geeese!!! I know this subject is posted somewhere on this forum, but how it is listed, I haven't a clue. The original term is, "Rope Wick," which seems not to come up on a search. So, here goes.....

Before I go buy a rope wick for my old Foreman 400, which still runs like a youngster, please tell me which one is the easiet to use, and the most sturdy. Can't tell you how many times I have bought something, and it turned out to be the most awkward, back breaking, useless, cheapmade piece of doo-doo, I could have purchased; just because I didn't have good advice from all of my great wonderful and loving friends from Cattle Today!!! :roll: Well, all but about one or two. I'm trying to remember who the second one was!!!! :lol:

So, if you have one that you are most happy with, let me know. The Johnson Grass is getting in my Red Clover and Orchard Grass. Not that I do not like Johnson Grass for cows, but not in this spot. This is the year I let go for the over priced metal, PVC drain pipe, and rope. Wish I had a shop and skills to make one.

I see that it is canvased wrapped. Sounds like it would work better than the little ropes.
They are not explaining a lot of details on the site. It says it has a 32 inch adjustment. Just guessing, how low will it go? Of course I don't want it to drag the ground, but I want it to beat the Curly Dock and the Johnson Grass before it gets too big. I want it when it gets several inches above it when I know it won't dip too low. But 32 is too late.

The adjustment handle, does it seem pretty stout? Or is it is flimsy and hard to manuever? Or is this one of the things you just pretty much need to get at a standard set, and leave it alone. And catch your weeds at this stage all the time.

Please tell me why this will not work. We have a few weeds that have become Round up resistant. I have not figured out why a ropewick, such as this, when driving slow, with the wick dropped very low, both ways to get good coverage with 2-4D, or how ever it is 2-4-D, will not work in the field. Of course there are other crops bordering the fields around the hay field, and I do not want to spray it, such as cotton. Or there could be heavy dews. But these weeds are localized in certain areas, and I would be able to tell where I wiped by my tracks of the 4 wheeler.

I don;t use there mounting system so don;t know how it works. I just mount mine at about 16 inches on the mule. On the tractor I can do anything from rubbing on the groudnd to 6 feet tall

I cannot find a price on one. Has anyone brought the ATV unit, with the complete set up to install on an ATV? Dun, there doesn't seem to be that many different companies making this product.

The next up in price that I found ran 4 grand on up. That's why I got this one.

Ouch!!! Now I see why they don't list the prices. I guess they had rather take a survey on how many people hang up on them. Dun, why didn't we think of this???? This is as bad as velcro, which started over a cockleburr. I still need to get rid of the Johnson grass and Curly Dock. Looks like I am going to have to call them. Did you buy it directly from the manufacturer, or did you find someone who was a dealer?

I got it at Farmfest in Springfield from the manufacturer. I have the ten and a half foot one but I don;t recall what it cost and I'm too lazy to go through the back taxes and find the invoice
