I'm not a gun guy but I think I want a semiauto 223 but all I'm finding is an AR platform or a Ruger mini 14

Is there another that I haven't found ?

Not that i know of...btw avoid the older mini 14's like the plague. they suck for accuracy truly a spray and pray rifle

I've been thinking of a .223 as well, thanks for the info. I probably wouldn't look at a semi auto though, I have the SKS for spray and pray

I had read you could dermine the older one by the serial numbers

Depending on what you want to spend, H&K makes a .223 semi-auto that is not a tactical design. I wish Browning would in the BAR rifle. I used to hunt in W Virginia with a guy who had a .222 Browning BAR. Sweet gun and probably was a special order years ago.

Some of the AR platforms will out shoot bolt guns for accuracy. And their way more fun and expensive to shoot.
