We had a calve injuried in the trailer while moving cattle to a new pasture. It happened 5 days ago. His "ankle" on his right back leg is very swollen and he will put very little pressure on it. It seems stable. What would you do? Give it more time? Brace it?

We have moved the pair to an area that will require less walking for him.

If its not flopping I would just leave it alone and cross my fingers--

Might give it a half dozen aspirin twice a day for a ocuple of days to help with the swelling

That is what I would do also but if it heals and you can tell it it was broke I would make a freezer beef out of it cause if you try to sell it they will dock it till it wont bring much so eat it yourself cause a broken leg wont hurt a ribeye

Thank you for the replies. It is stable, so we braced it and will keep mom and him in a smaller trap for a couple of weeks.
