    Would you keep this Cow?

Right there is your answer. Someone's signature line says something to the effect that compassion is for dealing with decisions about your children, not your stock. Ship her.

    Seperating Calves

Not good advise for a beginner. Even a veteran that knows the "look" of an irritated animal can be had. Been there done that with a cow that I've never had problems with in the past. Several circumstances added up to ear tagger, bander and 4 of my ribs being broken. The Lord was the only thing...

    Algae in water trough?

I still haven't figured out why ya'll fuss about the algae in the tanks anyhow. Don't ya have enough to do without scrubbing the danged stock tanks???? My daughter calls the algae "frog poop"

    Heat Resisitence Color or Breed?

My red simmys graze mid day like the herefords. The black simmys and the black baldies hang out under the willows and sycamores till near evening. It also seems to me that the high headed, high strung cattle don't like the sun as much as the more docile cattle. Just an observation within my...

    Yearling Simmental Bull

My guess is that he is MUCH better in person than pictures. I'd really like to see him standing a little better on his hind legs before I offer too much opinion.

Calf pictures - My son's show project

Leave him alone. The calf is going to be a 4-H steer. Doomed to be fed out. If you feel the need to ALWAYS say something negative then pick on someone your own size. NOT a kid's bred and owned project.

    Calving by almanac

Breed by the almanac and the calving date will take care of it's self.

who saw the cow kill the farmer?

Sure is a good thing I didn't see this thread. This feller was a family friend. All of you are lowlife trash for wanting to see a video and you make me sick. The way you folk talked about him is disgusting at the least. Macon should have put a stop to this one and deleted the whole thing. It is...

    Increasing AI success

Heat detection. Live with the cows while AIing. Flawless heat detection is my answer. And remember that the patches and cidrs and lute are only a tool. All are worthless if you don't watch your cows to know WHEN they were standing.

    PMs

I do more communicating thru pm on this forum than posting. I also have a pop up that tells me when I have a pm. The pop up is kinda hard to ignore. I check pm's every day.

    Lets cut through the BS

Bigbull, I think what they are all getting at is that you have to figure in fuel to make the hay and fuel to feed the hay, taxes on the property, vaccinations, feed, electricity... More than just the actual cost of the sack of feed goes into figuring what it takes to keep a cow for 365 days.
