Sorry to hear about your calf. Great that you tried to give him a chance.

    downed cow

HI mdmdogs3, Yes, the water is warm and as you stated, the warmth is to help the muscles relax and promote circulation to the limbs. They fill and drain the tank while the cow is in there, and to enter/exit they can slide them in/out on a rubber mat, (although mine was able to walk out on...

    downed cow

wow...this thread has travelled quite a bit. :) Gone from a downed cow, learning how to roll a cow, float a cow, shoot the right cow, pay for the cow, garlic in a cut cow, tail-less, standing, formerly down, now bred cow, to requests for better English to write about your cow. I'd just like...

    downed cow

Good morning. :) It continues to interest me how many different valid perspectives there are on this topic. I am getting stronger in my opinion that regardless of the condition of the cow at the moment of death, (she was making progress getting up and down 3 times on her own, in a pen, not...

    downed cow

This has been so interesting to get all of your different opinions on this situation, especially coming from a beginner's perspective. After reading other topics on this board, which I enjoy doing very much and have learned great amounts from already, I do have a question for Caustic..... I...

    downed cow

A couple of things....this guy was very apologetic to the point I wanted to give him a hug! I felt so bad for him I forgot that I'm the one with the shot and dead cow. Obviously I'm a softee or I wouldn't have tried all of these options to try to save her to begin with. Anyways, that is an...

    downed cow

There's a part of me that feels bad to take anything, as she wasn't 100% out of the woods yet.....but definitely making moves in the right direction. He's also put alot of work into her. He said nothing of having to pay the bill, just how much do you want? He felt bad. I'm guessing because...

    downed cow

I have some good and very bad news...which do you want first. The good news.... As I have been out of town since Friday afternoon at school until this Sunday evening, I'll update her progress. Friday we started up the Dexamethazone again. (thanks rkm) and rubbed in more of the essential oils...

    downed cow

HI rkm, I think what you said makes alot of sense. We had stopped the dexamethazone, but, I think your suggestion is a good one to keep her on that for swelling. Thank you!

    downed cow

HI Everybody! :) You really are a neat group of people and I feel real lucky to have found this site! Here's an update. They got her in the tank again last night, after the day of resting, and she stood up by herself again before they filled the tank. They decided not to fill the tank with...

    downed cow

Thanks! Do you know...could part of the reason for the sooner you float them psychological, so they don't think they are "downed" or is it strickly physical? Last night she was able to get up when she was aggravated enough, but not until then.

    downed cow

Forgot to mention, after she "floated" for a night, they drained the water, she stood for 20 minutes, and then they had her back out. She took a few steps, turned around too fast and went down again. She stood up by herself for a little bit when they got her in the tank, without water, and...

Sorry about that with the photo. I'll try it again, this time reading the directions. :P While taking the photos last night, I noticed he has a couple of different "brands" of tanks, but the one my cow is in is an aquacow tank. I took 5 photos for y'all. Don't laugh at my wooly winter...
