Ohh. You know we are thinking this isn’t pneumonia and maybe we should start checking for worms. Can they test for that. We do our liver flukeand worming this month here where we live. I will ask our vet about lungworms. Thank u!!

We have a heifer been staying in shade for a couple weeks. Fever. Drooling. No cough, no runny eyes etc. has had Nuflor the last two saturdays and also some type of vitamins etc. vet heard a tiny bit of noise in lungs. Thought the shots would knock it out. grazing till she gets too hot then...

    Vertical crack /cow

We do have a chute. We looked at it, gave her the shots but did not lift it. We wouldn't be able to trim it or whatever. She is pretty mean when she has a baby. We do not want to get rid of her. I'm just guessing that this new tiny crack that is in the hairline can be that painful?? Is it...

    Vertical crack /cow

They have mineral tubs year around. Nothing oozing. It's really dosnt look swollen. The back of her hoof looks exactly like the other one. Does not look like foot rot. We are probably just going to load her up and bring her to vet. It's pretty expensive.we did give her 50 cc of LA 200 about...

    Vertical crack /cow

That big crack she has had a good long time. This small one in the hairline just popped up and dosnt meet the big crack yet. She hasn't limped at all until this small crack it the top showed up. It does look like it meets the old crack in pic. Any ideas on putting anything on it.

    Vertical crack /cow

I have a large cow with a tiny vertical crack at the very top of her front hoof. She has had it for a few week now and is limping except when feed is involved then she moves rather well with no limp. When she is standing, resting she holds it up some of the time. We had a vet come out for a...

    Calf with tiny teats

Branguscowgirl! These are about the size of peas! Good comparison. Our other calves the same age you can see hanging down. Like an inch and a half or so. These you have to rub around and find. im relieved to hear you have some that are like that. This will be a show animal. We don't do this...

    Calf with tiny teats

We have been doing this for 30 years and I've never seen one with teats quite that small! Probably just never compared them! I'm sure it's fine.

    Calf with tiny teats

Not compared to her. I've never seen any that small. You can normally see them hanging down. I've never seen any that short. Im going to ask our vet, just thought someone may have had same experience.

    Calf with tiny teats

I have a 4 month old heifer and I just noticed that her teats are extremely short. About a half inch long. Maybe not quite that long. She has all 4 but almost nubs. Any chance they may grow? Beautiful little heifer. Thanks! :(

    Milking tube/needle

Thanks. This is reassuring. Vet said to let it keep nursing, but I had only talked to him briefly on the phone so I was worried. I guess we just need to make sure she doesn't develop an infection. Colleen

    Milking tube/needle

Yeah I agree! I feel stupid. I thought it was a good idea. NOt so obviously. Now we have to worry about that quarter getting infected if that is he reason for the blood. We have had enough stress saving the calf. Doing better today! Also, I didn't mean to put this on this really old post...

    Milking tube/needle

Well I'm pretty sure I screwed up! Used a metal milking straw/needle on a young cow. Having to collect milk for bottle to give to newborn till it figured out the nursing process. May be a dumb sucker. Looking brighter today until I go out to collect some milk in bucket, go to back left quarter...

Is a 6 ft. Wide trailer large enough for a full grown bull to turn around in and also to lay down in? Thanks Colleen

Angus cow thin and now stumbles??

Go buy a digital thermometer at the dollar store or gas station. Only cost a couple of bucks and sooo very important!! Normal temp 100 to 103.5. Below indicates a problem also. It gives you a place to start anyway. Hope you figure it out!

Wetting down an animal to cool

Sprinklers and misters should thoroughly wet the animal. And good air flow. Do not just want to cool the air and make steam. Pretty hot here lately! Colleen

    Skinny heifer

Damn, found her back teeth!! Feel stupid. I did not realize they were that far back. Her teeth are all fine. Vet looked all in her mouth, listened to everything. Temp was 103.5. He could not see or hear anything that alarmed him. Gave her an antibiotic, a booster and vitamin shot. Hopefully...
