We poured the bulls and bred heifers with Vetolice yesterday. The cows will be getting a scratcher and backrubber tomorrow.

Thank you guys! I've had a couple vets tell me that Cydectin doesn't work for lice.

The lice problem here usually starts in about January. Then goes til spring which is usually late April. Cows can get pretty naked by then. Lol.

I'm not sure where I'd even find those ingredients. I'll have to look it up

I'll have to look at the brand. I do know it's not the same one as we used last year though.

Ringworm is a fungus, ivermectin doesn't do anything for that. We do have ringworm, but usually just in the weaned calves over the winter. All the cows were done within the last 2 weeks of January, we shouldn't be seeing much scratching at this point!

I'm not sure if it is or is not working for internal parasites. I'm just suspicious as it seems the lice have developed a resistance to it. And we are not the only ones in our area that have been having issues with ivermectin for lice.

I'm not sure that a fecal would show that we have a lice problem. As far application goes...we've only been applying pour on parasiticides for over 20 years without issue....

Calves also get dosed with Meloxicam oral at branding, so I wonder if the 2 drugs would be ok to use together?

It's not a reaction to the ivermectin, but that it doesn't seem to be working.

So give me some options, this is the second year we've had issues with the cows scratching like crazy after they've been poured with ivermectin. After last year's issues, we did them with Boss pour on. This year I was sceptical about using ivermectin again, but DH wanted to use it again. So...

Here are a few eye problems that I've gotten photos of over the years. Pinkeye, treated this with Oxy LA, she healed up in a few days. Early stages of Cancer Eye, Just diagnosed this cow a few weeks ago. Only real option to save her would be to have the eye removed. Since she's 14 years old...

I have the same problem. Its easy using different colour tags, lol.

I like Ytex tags for the cows. Retention is really good. The calves get Ztag feedlot tags.

And we don't have any special tagging system. Just any unused number from 1-300 (at the moment).
