    "Long Range" Wormer

I just got a message from my vet wondering if I wanted to try Long Range this year. I read through these responses and I'm still up in the air about what to do?? Vet said price is going to go up another 5% on Feb. 1st so if I was thinking about using it she said I should get it ordered now...

    Bad Night

Finally did my Christmas shopping after work tonight. Came home to do chores and flipped on the cattle yard light to feed bulls. They all came walking over and I looked across the lot and what I saw made me nearly throw up. I have a 4 foot tall cement retaining wall across the spans across the...

    Punctured Eye

The symptoms do sound a lot like pink eye, but I fed them at 7 AM and walked through them while they were eating and he was fine and when I ran him through the chute at 9AM his eye was a mess so I guess that's why I ruled out the pink eye. But it sounds like I should treat it similar to that of...

    Punctured Eye

I hope you are right in that it is just an injury to the cornea. It does not look like it is progressing and it does not seem to be bothering him as much as it was this weekend. I could see somewhat of a small mark where it appeared something had stuck him, but had no idea of knowing how deep...

    Punctured Eye

I was weighing bull calves this weekend and when I was running them through I noticed one of them had a watery eye and when I got him in the chute I noticed the eye was starting to turn white and a little bloodshot looking. When I looked at it real close it appeared he somehow got poked in the...

    Impacted Gut

Just talked to my neighbor. The bull died this morning. Said he wouldn't drink water the last few days. Bummer deal.

    Impacted Gut

He said all the vet did was give him a shot of banamine and told him to keep him fed with plenty of water and keep trying to get him up on his feet.

    Impacted Gut

Neighbor has a bull that wasn't doing to well. Had his vet look at it and the vet said it has an impacted gut. Does anybody have any experience with a beef animal that hasn't gotten an impacted gut? I've never dealt with it. This bull is still eating and drinking, but he hasn't been able to get...

    bull died

That's what somebody on here suggested when I posted about it when it happened. It sounds like a logical diagnosis. They said they would get rid of him as soon as possible if it was a hernia. I was planning on taking him to the next sale, which was in a couple days, but I found him dead the next...

    bull died

I had a bull go down on me that fast this summer too. He was healthy and breeding cows, and I treated him once for a sore front foot, but then his scrotum swelled up really, REALLY bad. Got diarreha and became real weak. I treated him with all I could, but he still ended up dying on me. Still...

Calf hoof separating off on one side.

Guessing the calf was born in March? Not sure where you are from, but I had one born in February one time and his back hoof got frost bit when he was born and one side of his hoof start peeling off like you are saying. Nothing you could do about it. He still got around fine and made a good steer.

    Swollen Scrotum

I have a 2 year old bull who I treated a couple time for a limp on his front foot. After the second time I had the vet come look at it and she got to digging around in his foot and found a couple spots where there is probably an abscess of some sort that is causing the problems. We dumped some...
