    Miles driven a day

Some days I don't go anywhere. Today I'm headed to the hayfield which is 34 miles round trip. Will stop and get my mail on the way home this afternoon. Post office is 13 miles from home so 26 on any mail run day. Church is 10 miles. Nearest town is 40. Medical appts are 100.

    Uh Huh

I'm tempted to start responding with Dave Ramsey's standard reply, "Better than I deserve"

    Uh Huh

A similar topic was brought up not long ago on another board about when someone replies "no problem"

    Just thinking..........

Classic country and classic rock both used to have groups back in the 70's and 80's. Most of them are getting old and some dying off. Most younger artists go solo but i don't care for modern music either country or rock. On the classic rock side I miss groups like Fleetwood Mac and REO...

    Best lawn tractor brand

Problems is, I would have to fix the fence a little tighter if I were to turn some sheep in to mow the cemetary

    Best lawn tractor brand

Last year was an exceptional year. I covered a lot of ground including the church/cemetary, community hall/fire hall, a couple lawns in town, my own yard/corral/lots, and quite a bit of road ditch. Wall to wall on one mile of ditch and about 6 laps on each side of another 2 miles :oops...

    Best lawn tractor brand

Unfortunately, it's starting to look like it  Haying got started this week and doesn't look like much. Will be next week before I get to it. Last year I mowed most everything 4 or 5X and put just over 100 hours on the mower.

    Best lawn tractor brand

I want and like cruise on a rider mower. My foot would get awful tired with my foot holding the pedal down for a long time. I wouldn't buy a mower without cruise

    Best lawn tractor brand

 You can just about buy 2 Cub Cadets for what one Rhino costs. I'm sure the Rhino is probably a better mower, but I'm not sure it's twice as good. And then you have those sticks to deal with :P

    Best lawn tractor brand

Go figure :P After owning a couple Cub Cadet zero turns with steering wheel, I wouldn't want to own a tractor type, or a machine with sticks  The steering wheel also gives me something solid to hang to when getting on and off, and I can drive with one hand. Seems to me I would be...

    Stock... Sell or hold?

I agree, even with my old GM experience. I have never sold a stock by my own choice except once when I got in a tight financial bind I did cash in some index mutual fund stock. Otherwise I've just kept on buying as I was able when it seemed appropriate.

    Stock... Sell or hold?

Oil stocks have been down but seem to be working their way back. I've been buying some ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil all along $25 - $50 worth at a time. Buy low. Sell high. Easy to say. Hard to do. So I just buy, and keep buying

    Stock... Sell or hold?

Don't ask me for stock advice. I'm the guy who rode old GM into the ground thinking it would come back :bang: :bang: :bang:

Buy land or fund an IRA?

+1. A lot of good old fashioned common sense in that post

Buy land or fund an IRA?

I'm with Son of Butch. I would fully fund a Roth in good mutual funds first, then after that would sit down with a pencil and see how I could make best use of what I have to work with after that. At age 21 you are in a good position to just hang on and ride out the ups and downs of the...

    Let's try this another way

I don't know of any Chick Fil A's in my state, or any neighboring states for that matter. Otherwise, I would stop in there. Edit: I stand corrected. There are a couple on the other side of the state 400 miles away and several in IA. Sioux City would be the closest in IA at 500 miles...

    Favorite restaurant (mine is Chick-Fil-A)

I prefer the local mom/pop places or small local chain restaurants. Had the best breakfast a while back at a local mom/pop place. 4 oz pan fried steak, 2 hard fried eggs, and toast :D Cost a shade over $10, but it was worth it ;-)

    Borrowing money to build credit.

I bought both my Hyundai and my Kubota tractor on 0% company financing. 3yrs on the car, and 5 yrs on the tractor. Paid the car off in 2 years, dropped full coverage insurance down to liabilty only which saves $200/yr. While I am a Dave Ramsey fan and went through his FPU class this past...
